As the device clamps the wastegate, it allows for you to safely remove the locking collar on the wastegate without worrying about the spring preload force. The spring change assistance tool was created to assist users with clamping the cap while tightening the collar, it minimises any risk of misalignment of the cap and potentially introducing a leak due to the cap not being correctly tightened with the new spring package.
