MMX RP650 fast road rear pads for BMW G8x When it comes to high-performance driving, we all know that braking performance is just as important as acceleration and cornering. So, to gain performance from your factory BMW G8x M2, M3, or M4's brakes, our RP650 rear brake pads are an essential upgrade. An advanced ECE-R90 approved high friction material that delivers near-zero brake fade under high temperatures. If you drive your G-Series M-Car hard, the chances are you’ve experienced brake fade at some point. That’s where our high-performance RP650 brake pads come in. A simple replacement for your factory pads using the standard braking hardware, they deliver a much higher resistance to high-temperature fade. This makes them perfect for fast road driving and even occasional track day use, yet without any compromise in daily driving. Our compound testing focussed on developing a pad that finds that sweet spot between excellent cold bite and high-temperature fade resistance. The result is a medium aramid fibre compound with a friction coefficient of 0.42mu in the temperature range of 450 – 650°C. This compound is the secret to how our high-performance RP650 brake pads provide superior stopping power and reliable performance under even the most demanding conditions without requiring a warmup period - essential for cars that have to perform perfectly in daily driving duties yet stand up to the demands of fast road and occasional track use. Finally, it’s a legal requirement in most countries for brake pads to carry ECE-R90 certification – yet many other aftermarket pads do not. Not only is this ECE-R90 standard essential for legality (and potentially your insurance validity), but this regulation gives you the peace of mind that the pads are tested and approved for cold performance, speed, sensitivity, friction behavior, compressibility, shear, and hardness. Additional Information As well as outright performance, another key development focus has been around perfecting pedal feel - resulting in progressive braking with unparalleled pedal response underfoot. The slotted and chamfered construction ensures quiet and smooth braking. Matching front pads are available. Ideally, we’d recommend replacing the front and rear sets together. Fitting Information Bedding in: Typically, heavy braking on the road will generate approximately 1 to 1.1G of deceleration. At this rate, ABS will be activated on such equipped vehicles. A moderate braking effort is needed to properly break in rotors and pads. A stopping force of approximately 0.8G’s, just short of ABS intervention is a general estimate of pedal effort you are trying to achieve. After completing the installation, make a series of 10 stops from 60mph (100kph) to 5-10mph (10-15kph). At the end of each stop, immediately accelerate back up to around 60mph (100kph) again for the next stop (the exact speed is not critical). As you decrease to around 5-10 MPH (10-15kph), it is not necessary to watch the speedometer, keep your eyes on the road, and approximate your speed at the end of each cycle. Do not come to a complete stop, as you will imprint pad material onto the disc, risking a vibration. On the 8th or 9th stop, there should be a distinct smell from the brakes. Smoke may be evident after several stops as well. Also, by the 8th or 9th stop, some friction materials will experience “green fade”. This is a slight fading of the brakes. The fade will stabilise, but not completely go away until the brakes have cooled.
