Made entirely from aluminium with fully seam-welded joints, it provides durability and endurance when it really matters. The increased core volume improves cooling capacity and lowers the engine inlet temperature. As this is a do88 performance product, thorough testing was carried out during development to reach the best possible performance. No compromises were made. The cooler is optimised for space as far as possible so that it mounts in the original location. A full 85% larger core volume and a 40% lower intake temperature is a difference the manufacturer is proud of having achieved. It is something that can genuinely be felt. The engine pulls considerably better across the whole range and tolerates repeated bursts of throttle without building up heat. The belief that an intercooler only needs replacing once a high level of tuning is reached is not correct, yet it remains widespread. On warm Swedish summer days, during repeated pulls, spirited driving or simply in a hotter climate, it takes little effort for the engine to start generating dangerously high intake temperatures, even on a completely standard car. The cooling capacity of the standard intercooler is in many cases clearly inadequate, and that affects the engine and its power. The heat has to go, otherwise the promised output drops drastically as soon as the throttle is opened. This intercooler ensures that the car's performance is there, always. The charge pipe kit supplied with this BIGPACK is made from 2.375" extruded aluminium tube, mandrel-bent to the correct shape. All of this manufacturer's pipe kits are built with gentle radii, forgiving transitions and the largest possible internal diameter, all to achieve optimal air flow and a lower pressure drop. This product is supplied with everything needed for straightforward installation, with no modification to the car's original structure required.
