A do88 performance oil cooler designed for a drop-in fit in the BMW M2C / M3 / M4 F8X The S55 engine fitted to the BMW M2C / M3 / M4 F8X has a horizontally mounted oil cooler that sits at the bottom of the large cooling pack in the centre of the front end. The car's standard oil cooler has a tube and fin core, which is fairly sensitive to external impact and can therefore be damaged by stone chips or other debris. With this type of cooler mounted in this position, it is not unusual for a stone striking the original oil cooler to cause a sudden oil leak, which can have devastating consequences. With our performance oil cooler we want to offer a more durable design that improves performance at the same time! To obtain an exact 3D model of the available space in which to design our charge pipe, we made a detailed 3D scan of the space where the oil cooler is mounted on our BMW M3 Competition. Using this 3D scan we were able to design our performance oil cooler with a bar and plate core that improves both cooling effect and durability. Our design increases the cooling area by 20% and the core volume by a full 63% compared with the original oil cooler. Our bar and plate construction is tougher, so it withstands far more stone chips and other debris while also cooling better!
